Hello! “The Blog Feed.” I’m so glad you’re here. Here’s a little about me:
If you haven’t gathered this yet, let me tell ya, I love to go on adventures, and I love food! When I first had the idea to start this blog I tried to narrow down what I wanted to write about, but there are so many different types of adventure that I’m passionate about, I couldn’t possibly pick just one. I could go on for pages (and in my posts I do!) about how much I love camping, backpacking and adventuring outside. But I’m also crazy about road trips, and international travel! I truly believe that everyone deserves to get outside their comfort zone, experience the world, learn about other cultures, and wander in places far from home.
If it’s possible, I think I might love food even more than I love adventures, or at least it’s pretty close. I taught my self to cook as a teenager, and since then I’ve been obsessed with making life taste great. I have so much fun cooking for myself and my friends, and I love to eat at restaurants, pubs, food trucks, taco stands… you get the idea. If it involves food, count me in. I also have a serious passion for cooking great tasting meals on the trail. Backpacking meals do not need to be boring and tasteless and over-processed. Light-weight packable meals can indeed be delicious! And I’ll tell you how in my posts 🙂
While we’re on the topic of food, I should also mention that I love drinks! Drinks are actually a very important part of my life through work; I have been a bartender for 9 years now, and throughout my bartending journey I have been blessed with the opportunity learn a lot about beer and wine. I’ve also had the chance to learn (from some expert mixologists) all about liquor, and the fun chemistry of creating delicious craft cocktails. Through excellent teachers and experience, I’ve learned how to pair drinks with food to create an elevated combined taste experience. If you ever want to chat about drinks please reach out, I never get tired of talking about this craft!
Why did I start this blog? For a very long time I have felt lost. I am a 30 year old bartender with a bachelors degree in psychology. I have often felt adrift at sea as to “what to do with my life.” I have explored different career paths throughout my 20’s but nothing has seemed to truly spark my interest the way that food and adventure do. Have you ever heard the saying, “do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”? Well I’m going for it guys! I’m going to put my heart and soul into food and adventure and write about it every step of the way, in hopes of connecting with like-minded adventurers and food lovers. I’ll still be keeping my job as a bartender for a while though, to pay the bills (and also because I like it!).
Finally, I’ll let you in on a secret, my partner Zach and I are currently gearing up to drop everything, pack up our whole life in backpacks and trek through South America! If all things go as planned we’ll be leaving next year, and who knows when we’ll return! I’ll be documenting the whole adventure here as I go, so feel free to follow along 🙂 Until then, I’ll be sharing my experiences backpacking, cooking, camping, restauranting, and more, while I prepare for the great unknown!
Thanks for taking a moment to read about me. I’d love to hear more about you! Please email me: hi@www.blogfeed.org
